This is a map layout made for Evil Noob's Braverz.
This was originally a web game on itch.io that ended up getting released on Steam (All of their previous games are all on itch.io). The web version was out briefly, during its Alpha stage, on December 2019, and was later released on Steam on January 2020. The web version is still playable, but not to the public anymore (it was originally going to be free to play). It's still viewable only to the developers and anyone part of their Braverz discord group.
I re-designed the layout for the home base and the enemy base. I also re-designed the pathways, but it was later polished and adjusted a bit by another developer from the team, Hansel Fernandez.
This was all done in Unity. I worked on the layout back in May 2019. Before that, I tested the game a bit, and still frequently check the game for updates, and for any additional bug-testing.
Side Story: I just wanted to work with a team in Florida. This was during my last few months at Hardsuit Labs. This had to be around January 2020. I was at the gym in the work building and just had an epiphany that I never worked with a team in Florida. I didn't care if it was freelance or voluntary. I just wanted some story down there. I randomly reached out to Evil Noob, that wrapped up on War Scrap https://warscrap.io/ and started working on Braverz. Evil Noob's based in Miami, Florida, with members in Brazil and Europe. They're a small team, very indie. At first, I just helped out on some bug testing, voluntarily.
They reached out to me for some level design help in May 2019, right before I started working with Airborn Studios. I wish it was still on the web. They had to pull it down to fix and fine-tune the game more. It was out briefly on the web.
Additional Note: I ended up working with a game studio in Florida, GameSim, a little over a year after working on this game. Florida was still on my radar, even when I was in Upstate NY. I did eventually visit Florida just for 3 months. I was mainly in Orlando, FL, visited Miami, FL for about a week, and Key West just for a day.
